Ferrari has officially revealed its 458 Italia, a mid-rear engined supercar intended to replace the F430.

Designed by Pininfarina, the 458 Italia will be powered by an all-new 4.5-liter direct-injection V8 that yields 570HP at 9,000 rpm and 398.2 lb-ft of torque (540Nm) at 6,000 rpm. Eighty percent of this torque is available at a low 3,250 rpm.

The Italia's new V8 engine has the highest output per liter in the company's production history and is equipped with its seven-speed dual-clutch transmission that channels power to the rear-wheels.

The engine and transmission setup launches the supercar from 0 to 62mph (100km/h) in under 3.4 seconds and to a top speed of more than 202mph (325km/h).

The famous symbol of the Ferrari race team is a black prancing stallion on a yellow shield, usually with the letters S F (for Scuderia Ferrari), with three stripes of green, white and red (the Italian national colors) at the top. The road cars have a rectangular badge on the hood (see picture above), and, optionally, the shield-shaped race logo on the sides of both front wings, close to the door.
